Are you a supplier or a broker?

Neither. We are a direct-to-supplier energy subscription product. For your energy supply you will contract directly with TotalEnergies, a leading global multi-energy company that produces and supplies electricity, natural gas and renewable energy. TotalEnergies are not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of any information provided by Hedged or any Hedged product. How does Hedged differ from a standard fixed or flexible contract?

Our product is a subscription model that gives you access to wholesale prices. Unlike a fixed contract, our model works with market fluctuations, not against them. Unlike a flexible contract, we strip out the complexity and risk of a portfolio manager, providing you with a simple, transparent solution.

Can you guarantee a price?

We can guarantee a price provided in line with the subscription period (i.e. 1 day, 1 month, 1 year). Our subscription model gives you the agility to benefit from market dips and change your plan if the price becomes unfavourable, which is something a fixed contract cannot do.

How much will I save on my bill?

Can you get me a comparison price?

What happens if we experience another energy crisis and the market spikes?

Firstly, the UK’s energy infrastructure has changed as a result of the energy crisis, ensuring a more reliable supply chain and reducing the odds of another crisis on the scale of 2022. In fact, supplier gas storage minimum levels are mandated by Europe (through the EU’s Gas Storage Regulation, meaning the UK is a lot more resilient). Secondly, since 2022, the UK and EU have invested heavily in LNG terminals and contracts (Qatari, US, Norwegian supply) meaning Russian pipeline exposure is now <10%. Thirdly, the beauty of a subscription model is that you're not locked into a high price for years. If the market spikes, you only pay that price for a short period. Our 30-day notice period means you have the agility to walk away from an unfavourable market and re-evaluate your strategy, rather than being stuck for years in a contract that no longer makes sense.

What happens if I have bad credit?

We perform a soft credit search, which is an initial check that does not impact your credit score. This is an important step in our process and is designed to provide a fair assessment without any negative consequences for your business.

Do I have to pay a security deposit?

In some cases, a security deposit may be required based on your credit check, but we will not add an inflated premium to your price. It is a separate, transparent part of the process. Many businesses don't realise they are paying a huge risk premium in the unit rate instead of a low security deposit.

How does it work?

Our subscription model is built for flexibility. To remove a site, you would simply "unsubscribe" and cancel that particular meter's contract with our subscription’s 30-day notice period. This process is much simpler than a traditional change of tenancy (COT) or novation.

How is a change of tenancy (COT) different from a novation?

A change of tenancy (COT) happens when a business moves into, or out of, a site. It's about updating who’s responsible for the energy at that location.

The current contract gets cancelled, and the new tenant is free to choose their own supplier and set up a contract that works for them.

A contract novation works a little differently. That’s when the business at the site stays the same, but the legal entity responsible for the contract changes – like after a restructure or name change. The existing contract stays in place, but the responsibility transfers to the new party.

I have solar panels or other on-site generation. Can I still use Hedged?

Yes. Our subscription model is designed to support businesses with on-site generation. By eliminating volume tolerance and other restrictive clauses, our model works with your efficiency and sustainability goals, not against them.

Can you check my bills and advise if I’m paying too much for my kVA (capacity) charge?

We have the ability to see if your kVA is higher than it should be, and we know this can be a huge source of savings. While this functionality is not fully automated in our initial product, we will be able to analyse this data in the future and will work to automate it as a core part of our service.

Do you offer energy management services like bill validation, procurement tendering, or monitoring and targeting?

Nope. We’re not a broker, consultant or TPI. Hedged is an energy provider with one simple job: to get you the best energy price available.

What are the payment terms for a Hedged subscription?

As standard, our terms are Direct Debit and 14 days. This allows us to keep the system running efficiently and pass on the best wholesale rates to you. If you need to discuss different payment terms, please speak to the team.

Who is my energy supplier?

What’s the difference between Subscription Energy and a Standard Variable Tariff (SVT)?

A Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) is a default supplier product thats customers move onto automatically when they are out of contract. It offers no active risk management or customer choice, and prices can change at the supplier’s discretion – often at short notice. Because SVTs are designed as “safety net” products rather than competitive options, rates are typically higher than market averages.

In contrast, Subscription Energy is a deliberately chosen product that provides businesses with control and transparency. Customers can select from three tailored funds (Market Tracker, Monthly Hedge or Annual Hedge) aligned with their individual risk appetite, and can move between these options as their needs change. Wholesale energy is procured through actively managed baskets across daily, monthly and yearly positions, ensuring transparent and responsive pricing. Fees are clearly displayed with no undisclosed uplifts, and the model is backed by TotalEnergies’ extensive supply operations – combining the reliability of a major supplier with the flexibility of a subscription-based approach.

If I want to go live with Hedged at multiple sites, what’s the process?

When you sign up for Hedged and a new supply contract with TotalEnergies, we’ve made the process as simple as possible. Here’s what to check:

Make sure your current contract’s end date aligns with the start of your new one
Let your existing supplier know you’re switching
Clear any outstanding balance on your account

Most suppliers need around 30 days’ notice to process a termination. If this step is missed, your switch could be delayed by up to a month. Once you’ve signed up, we’ll send a confirmation email outlining the next steps. It includes a termination notice template and a list of suppliers you’ll need to notify. If you’re within the 30-day notice window, we’ll let you know – it just means the transfer might take a little longer to complete.
